How do you save green and bring people together at the same time? Bernice Kamphuis came up with something for this as a modern-day Robin Hood: Struikroven. / ‘Rob the bush’ Foundation.
It started in 2014 as a neighborhood initiative in its own neighborhood Hemelrijken in Eindhoven, but Stichting Struikroven is currently growing into an organization throughout the Netherlands!
With her foundation, Bernice saves plants from demolition during renovation or redevelopment by removing them just in time and giving them a new place. And the payoff is tremendous!
Because the way she organizes it not only saves mature plants and greenens neighborhoods. But it also contributes to a more social neighborhood, as local residents meet and go on adventures together.
Interesting right?
But how exactly does bushwhacking work? How do you organize it and why don’t we do it much more in the Netherlands? What big dream does Bernice have for Stichting Struikroven? And what opportunities could this provide for you?
You’ll find out all that in this new episode of the ‘Hopeless to Hotspot’ Podcast. Which can now also be seen on YouTube!
Get inspired by Bernice’s extraordinary work. And who knows, maybe you can do something yourself as a highwayman in your own neighborhood! Enjoy!
Radiant greetings,
Sandra
